2.       Ladder to access the roof

3.       Cordless drill

4.       #2 phillips bit

5.       Wire cutters

6.       Tin snips (only required in a few instances, depending on current setup)

Upper Portion Installation
(Roof)

Step 1: Remove the chimney cap from your woodstove chimney

Step 2: Wrap the cord, which is attached to the upper chain support unit, on your hand to avoid dropping the unit down your stovepipe. Remove the screws, and prepare to install

Step 3:

  • Fit unit in place with the first screw by putting it thru the first tab, and feed the chain down the chimney pipe.

  • Position about 1 inch from the top of your chimney

  • Screw in the first screw, then level the unit.

  • Continue securing the unit with the remaining 3 screws.

  • Remove the cord from your arm, and the unit. The roof portion of your system is done.

Lower Portion Installation (inside)

Lift Your Stovepipe up. If it fits snug (like ours does) push it up as far as you can. If it does not fit snug, move the chimney stovepipe to the side, on a wooden block as pictured below.

Install the ribbed end of the lower gearbox/pipe into your chimney port, rotating so the control rod is in a position you prefer (side or back)

Trim the chain using wire cutters so that the last full link sits at, or just above, the upper edge of the upright split ring.

Connect the end of the chain to the split ring hole on the angled rod of the lower gearbox unit.

Reposition the Stovepipe in place so that it slides snugly into the top of the gearbox unit.
